THE BIG DAY!!!

Twin birth,

“I know this day has been scheduled for weeks and I was more than ready when I scheduled it, but now I’m not so sure, I need a little more time……”

These were my thoughts in the wee hours, February 9th, 2016.  It was go time and I was not ready to go, my nerves and anxiety had all but kept me from locking myself in a closet and not coming out until these babies were 3.

That was not an option so once Eric and I got the call to come in for our scheduled induction, we headed to the hospital (around 7:00 a.m.).  Eric had confessed that he felt the way I did, that his nerves had also gotten the best of him the night before and he hadn’t been able to sleep (you wouldn’t think we had been through this 3 times already, but this time was different).

So here we are tired and sleepless, probably not to see a full night's sleep for at least a year, about to welcome two new additions into our family (we are not off to the best start…….lol:)). After getting checked into the hospital we were off to our birthing suite, I was checked after getting all settled in and told that I was already 5 centimeters (halfway there, without the meds to induce labor…………there was no turning back now).

By this time (around 10:30 a.m.) Eryn, Essence and Eric had arrived.  I had made arrangements for them to be there with us during all of this, I wanted them to be one of the first to see their new siblings and just wanted them close to me.  Them being there took some of my anxiety away and put me at ease, we laughed, joked, and played around until they started my Pitocin (the drug to kick my labor into high gear...playtime was over).

The hospital...

To make a not-so-long story even shorter.  I have a pretty high threshold for pain so there was no screaming, cursing, biting, or throwing things. At around 5:00 p.m., we were told that I was fully dilated and once the doctor had finished up with one delivery she’d be over to deliver our twins.

Shortly after, I was wheeled into the operating room (sidenote: this was only a precaution, a just in case something goes wrong and we have to act fast, but the plan was not to have to be operated on), and at 5:30 it was showtime, after about an hour of prep work and pushing, Elyse Ryan made her entrance into the world at 6:39 p.m., and 30 mins later at 7:09, Emani Ryan followed.

Newly.Born

TWO MORE GIRLS!!!!! If you read my pregnancy story we didn’t know the sex of the babies, and although I’d hoped for a boy and a girl so that Eric would have a brother, I knew all along that there were two little girls in there.

I am now the proud mom of four beautiful daughters and a handsome son. Thank you for reading.

Our First Month….
